One thing to remember about poker is that you’re never forced to make any bets unless you’re willing to take the chance. Generally, only the first player will place any money into the pot. This is also referred to as ‘ante-up’. The winner of the poker game takes home the entire pot. Similarly, a pot limit will limit the amount of money you can bet. This means that if you’re betting the maximum, it’s better to limit your bets to the amount in the pot.

In most cases, poker is played with poker chips. If there are seven or more players, poker chips should be supplied. The lowest-value chip is the white one. Other colors are blue, green, and yellow. You can get really expensive chips, or cheap ones. The dealer chip will tell you who the current dealer is. The player who buys in first should have the same value as the dealer. However, you may have to use a different chip if you have a smaller number of players.
