Generally, poker is played with a deck of 52 cards. These cards have four suits, spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs. The goal is to create the best hand possible. The winner of the pot gets all the chips in it.
Most games have at least six or eight players. They also have two or more betting intervals. In each betting interval, one card is dealt face up to each active player.
After the fourth betting interval, each player will see his or her two hole cards. These cards will not be part of the community cards. The player will then decide whether to bet or fold. If the player wishes to stay in the game, he or she may check or call. If he or she decides to fold, he or she will discard all of his or her cards and put them on the table.
If two or more players have identical poker hands, a tie is broken by a high card. The high card can be any card, including an Ace. The winner is the player who has the highest card. In some games, the ace is considered to be the lowest card.
Some variant games have Wild Cards. These cards are used to help create the best hand possible. In poker, no suit is considered higher than another. Wild cards can take any suit.
The goal of poker is to make the best hand possible. A hand may be made from five cards, a combination of player and community cards, or a combination of both.
