A game of Poker involves wagering a fixed amount of money against other players in a shared pot. The object of the game is to make the best poker hand possible by combining five cards and betting in accordance with the rules of the game.

The first round of betting in a poker hand takes place after everyone has received their two hole cards. It starts with 2 mandatory bets called blinds which are placed into the pot by players to the left of the dealer. Then there is a chance for each player to check, call, or raise the bets.

After the first betting round is complete the dealer deals three additional cards face up on the table, these are called the flop. Then there is another opportunity to check, call, or raise the bets before another card is dealt, this is known as the turn.

Finally the fifth and final community card is dealt, this is called the river. After the final betting round is over the player with the highest ranked poker hand wins the pot.
